Kate Attard , Energy and Emissions Modeller
Kate specialises in programming for large-scale data analysis, data visualisation, and exploration of physical problems through creative modelling solutions. She works across a diverse range of sectors, with particular experience in rail and the TV/film industry.
Coming from a scientific background after completing a PhD in astrophysics, Kate has extensive experience of physical systems, programming languages such as Python and FORTRAN, and graphical data visualisation. She has utilised this knowledge to solve a wide variety of problems, creating clear insight into results.
Selected projects Kate has worked on include:
- Conducting modelling and analysis of freight train travel times over a set of routes in Wales to produce enhanced sectional running times (SRTs)
- Statistically analysing and producing insights into film and TV emissions data
- Managing the introduction of version control systems into the current workflow
Outside of work, Kate is an avid filmgoer and can often be found patronising local independent cinemas, alongside working to improve her chess game and taking long walks in London’s parks.
