Supporting Local Carbon Framework Pilot Authorities

17 November 2010

Katie King is a member of the expert group supporting nine pilot Local Carbon Framework areas over the coming 6 months.

The aim of the pilot programme is to push the boundaries of current carbon reduction efforts by local authorities to achieve a step change in progress towards the challenging UK carbon budgets for 2022 and beyond.  The programme was announced back in January 2010 but the change of Government and the spending review has delayed progress in setting up the group.

Energy Saving Trust is managing the group comprised of experts from LGA, Arup, EcoLane, Carbon Descent and Carbon Trust.  The expert group will provide support to the Local Authorities by advising on current emission patterns and future reduction options, collating guidance and monitoring the impacts of the programme.  It will also recommend actions to take forward to enable other Local Authorites to benefit from the pilot.
